How would you describe your art?

Oil on canvas. Outdoor and nature scenes.

Describe your creative process.

When I look at the blank canvas, I see many possibilities. I ponder ideas floating my mind/heart. Then I plan: paint. Some days the creative process flows like a swift stream and other days the stream dries up to a trickle but one keeps flowing, painting and creating.

What inspires you to create?

God’s beautiful creation unfolding in the four seasons of nature. A walk in the woods, a hike on a trail or a paddle in the water, inspires and kindles my artistic activity. Psalm 121 is one of my favorite and most uplifting songs of the Bible.

What are you trying to create?

I hope that each painting creates a simple, reflective retreat for the viewer. With some beautiful splashes of colors, forms and shapes found in nature. My art invites one to walk into the moment on the canvas. My art should invoke a personal memory for a moment of grace.

What makes your process different to other artists?

I have little formal training. No fine art degree. I create because I come from a family tree steeped in fine arts: I use my art to connect people with God and nature.
