How would you describe your art?

Mostly birds and flowers in watercolor. Somewhere between realism and impressionism, depends on the day.

Who is an artist that inspires you and why?

John Singer Sargent, his play of light and shadow in his watercolors. Mary Whyte, her use of loose impressionism around her main subjects in portraits.

What are your favorite materials or mediums to work with?

Watercolor and Graphite. Just started playing with different inks.

What are you trying to communicate with your art?

Enjoyment, involvement

What is the most influential piece of art that you have experienced?

Mary Whyte’s “We the People” project. A seven year project of 50 portraits of veterans, one from each state.
