Name of Business: Breathing Art by Ashley Byrom
How would you describe your art?
I would describe my art as peaceful. Light in the darkness. Healing to the soul. It’s not something I was taught to do, it was put in me and comes out with a passion and love that makes me feel home.
What inspires you to create?
I am inspired to create by the one who created me. Breathing Art is more to me than just creating art. I believe we are each living breathing art ourselves handmade by God. When I paint, I paint from a place of freedom & peace. Healing and wholeness. Worship music is a big part of my creative process.
What are you trying to communicate with your art?
When I paint and someone looks at my work I want a peace to wash over them. I want my art to communicate that peace on every wall hung and every room entered.
What’s your favorite quote & why?
I found my favorite scripture in the “Beautiful Word Devotional” that I read before I start each painting. It says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11
That reflects the dark to light path I walked through to get to this place of beauty.
When did you start making art & why?
I recently started painting when my mom received her double lung transplant we had been praying for. We needed to quarantine to take care of her. Staying home and painting was a leap of faith. Starting this journey while she got her lungs is another glimpse of the depth of breathing art.
