How would you describe your art?
My Art Jewelry emphasizes my creative expression and design which is characterized by the use of a variety of materials.
Describe your creative process.
It doesn’t matter what it is, I could be cutting or bending metal, weaving wire or adding mixx media, etc. the process of creating a piece of Jewelry Art makes me feel accomplished and happy. My love for not only wearing jewelry, but also for the creative process is the reason why I decided to become a Jewelry Art Designer.
One of my favorite activities within the process of creating is working with metal wire. I start with raw material. It has its own innate characteristics, hardness, tension, specific looks and feel. It is in this beginning state and I am the one who is going to work with these characteristics, I shape it and form it into something beautiful.
What inspires you to create?
When I am creating jewelry I listen to my inner creative voice. I let intuition lead me to the final result. That, in my opinion is also the difference between my jewelry art to the traditional jewelry there is out there. I create my own art work so that it is functional and practical. The designs are lightweight and easy to care for with minimal effort. I believe each day is a chance to celebrate and enjoy our intimate creative expression using the canvas of our own bodies and it is thrilling to wear a Jewelry Art piece…it inspires…questions and awe. I appreciate that the expression of each wearer is a statement of their individuality and I am most honored that my Jewelry Art becomes a part of that collaboration.
When did you start making art & why?
All that I create, I have self taught by researching various techniques and materials either through books, videos or online articles. I began making Jewelry Art 4 years ago when my life was in turmoil and I felt I needed to find something to occupy my time that not only regained my self-esteem but also made me feel good either wearing it or creating a special order piece. I have had the honor of creating jewelry for several wedding parties as well as special orders for specific occasions.
What’s your favorite quote & why?
We delight in the beauty of a butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
